Building strategy for town hall 17


Dawn of a new era in the Clash of Clans universe, yet larger, more audacious, and, we must say, more exciting than ever before. The long-awaited Town Hall 17 has been officially launched, and with it comes a blast that shakes things up and brings excitement to the Clash community. As an experienced Clasher, I could not resist a burst of adrenaline in my blood. All this novelties and possibilities realized in TH17.

Imagine logging into your village, and there it is: a massive building so high that it seems to be touching the sky, with a shine so out of this world. That is your new Town Hall 17, and it speaks for itself of the committed and skilled player that you are in Clash of Clans. This is no upgrade for superficial appearances; no, it is literally a game-changing one in the real sense.

First of all, we have TH17's crown jewel: the Giga Inferno. You really can't call this one of the ordinary Town Hall weapons. It's an outright beast, throwing multi-target scorching attacks that can alter the face of battle at any time. I remember the very first time I came across this during a clan war. Full of confidence in their strategy, the attacker sent in their troops. To their horror, however, the Giga Inferno suddenly lit up the battlefield and wiped their army out within seconds. What a sorry sight to see. One can only remember the power TH17 could yield. But, again, that is the Giga Inferno. TH17 brings with it tons of new and exciting updates and features that would make any Clasher's heart race. Take for example the new Hero Equipment; this game-changing addition allows you to customize your heroes like never before. Imagine your Barbarian King having this gigantic hammer that he'll be using as a defense; also, just imagine the kind of power this holds for your Archer Queen. I mean, what is possible with the strategic options it has brought in is just endless, and that has opened up a whole new dimension of hero usage in attacks.

More to it, the all-new siege machine, the Battle Drill: this mechanical marvel burrows underground, bypasses the walls, and surfaces right in the heart of the enemy base. I'll never forget the expression of surprise on my clanmates' faces when I used it against them in a friendly challenge. In one moment, their well-planned base layout seemed unshaken, and suddenly, my troops poured in the center in full force, messing up their inner defenses. The Battle Drill has revolutionized attack plans, turning even the strongest of defenses into vulnerability against a well-thought-out assault. This new Spell Tower is a revolutionary addition to Base design. This one-of-a-kind defense can be armed with a different variety of spells that can support the other defenses around it or, by contrast, act as a hesitation for the attacking troops. I've seen it blow great attacks away, turning them into shameful one-star disasters. There really is no better feeling in the world than watching an enemy's troops slow to a crawl beneath a frantically cast slow spell or watching their healers totally eradicated by a perfectly timed poison.

And let's not forget about the newest troop—the Apprentice Warden. This unit, a new kind of support troop, is fresh air in the all-too-common lineup of Clash of Clans. He is able to provide a boost to troops around him and provides really nice buffs for boosted damage. My experience is that this works most effectively in conjunction with mass miner attacks, where the added boost can have them scooting through some bases at a speed totally unheard of.

Well, great power comes with great responsibilities, and upgrading to TH17 is not a decision one makes easily. The resource cost is huge and the upgrade times are dauntingly long. I still remember how my pulse was racing, checking my phone every few hours, as if it was going to speed up the process. But let me tell you, the wait is worth it.

When you hit TH17, your priority should be upgrading your resource buildings and storages. The new levels for collectors and mines are nice and are going to be essential for keeping up with the increased costs of the different levels of upgrades. Also, do not leave behind your laboratory; the new levels for troops and spells can really give you a boost in battles.

Making a TH17 base is a completely different game in layout strategy. The added walls and buildings allow for greater complexity in design but bring new challenges to the table as well. I have found that the key to compartmentalizing is to create separate zones for your key defenses. You will want to put the Town Hall and core defenses at the heart of your base. Put your New Spell Tower in a strategic position where it can cover a large area and offer support for other high-value defenses.

What has worked really well about one design for my TH17 base—especially with a layout that I have liked to call "False Hope"—is that I will give, supposedly, an easy route to the Town Hall in order to tempt attackers. Of course, this is filled with traps, supported by hidden Tesla farms, and the new Spell Tower. Many invaders have taken the bait and blown away their siege engines and key troops inside, falsely thinking that it was an easy win, only to find themselves run out of juice when they finally reach the real core of the base.

The attacking of other TH17 bases requires patience. Those new defenses will be a lot harder to deal with because of all the defenses in the rush. I've missing very well using a similar strategy; opened with the Battle Drill to create an initial breach, then used Miners, a hefty dose of Hog Riders, and the new Apprentice Warden afterward.

Be adaptable: Be prepared to change plans on the fly, depending on how the base reacts to your initial assault.

That's probably one of the most exciting things about TH17: how it shook up the competitive scene. Clan wars have never been fiercer, and with these changes, there is a whole new level of strategy and skill required for attacking and defending. I've seen clans considered unbeatable just a day back struggling to adapt and others rising up from nowhere because of their masterwork in the nitty-gritty of TH17 warfare.

TH17's release, too, had a different sense of community in the game. My clan has spent lots of hours discussing and sharing strategies with replays to help us get the new Town Hall level game well into our action. The air seems excitingly different, and a sense of camaraderie is going to flow between the players, who will be tapping into the potential that TH17 unfolds.

The future is all bright, and TH17 is just the first page of a new chapter for the Clash of Clans. The game developers have promised a number of new, fun updates, building on the foundations laid by TH17. Are we going to get new heroes? Maybe some even more creative defenses? Only time shall tell, but one thing is for sure: the jaunt in Clash of Clans is still a long way from over.

Long story short, with Town Hall 17, the beauty of Clash of Clans has been truly revived with the numerous strategies it provides, challenges, and fun to the game. From the mighty Giga Inferno to the innovative Hero Equipment, from the crafty Battle Drill to the versatile Spell Tower, TH17 has something for just about every type of player. Whether you're a veteran or relative newcomer, there's never been a better time to dive into Clash of Clans.

When my TH17 is fully maxed out, it gives me so much pride and satisfaction. Everything was such an amazing journey with every improved step, battle, or victory. Yet I know that this will yet be another milestone, not the end of the road. Clash of Clans' beauty lies in constant movement, with TH17 as proof of the cradle—innovation and spur.
